Attending board members: Aaron Archer, Brett Lawton, Justin Barney, Ken Davis, Michelle Smith-Dahlhauser
City Council Representative: Kyle Schimenti
Utilities Supervisor: Luke Woster
- The meeting was called to order by Archer at 633 pm
- Reviewed minutes from May 31, 2024. Barney recommended referring to everyone only by their last name in order to keep things unified. Smith-Dahlhauser agreed. Barney motioned to approve minutes. It was seconded by Smith-Dahlhauser. All in favor.
- Lawton announced his resignation from the Park Board due to becoming a City Council member. Lawton will be taking Schimenti’s place as council rep to the park board.
- Schimenti informed us per City Administrator Bob Oliva and Mayor Matt Thompson that the Park Board can do projects under $500 in the parks without council approval first. The board can either purchase supplies and then be reimbursed or they can ask city staff to get it. If asking staff, Woster advised giving plenty of notice to staff members.
- Council member Schimenti also said, If the amount is larger than $500, the park board needs to discuss the project. After coming to an agreement, bring it to the City council for approval.
- Council member Schimenti advised that the Park Board can reach out with questions and concerns to anyone they feel comfortable talking with. Utilities Superintendent Woster stated he didn't want to be directly contacted and to please go through City Administrator Bob Oliva.
- Park Board to look at the train park door on the storage building and decide if it needs to be painted or replaced. Woster stated that the city uses the door, they store Christmas decorations in the building.
- It was stated that all 3 parks need mulch. Woster stated that weeds need to be pulled, new fabric laid down and then new mulch.
- Woster stated they are looking for a new full time utilities employee.
- Woster stated he has 7 Frisbee Golf Goals and wanted to know if the park board wanted to use them.
- Woster stated he would appreciate help finding and doing the paperwork for grants. It was suggested to ask Administrator Oliva about where to find grants.
- Council member Schimenti offered to help write grants.
- Davis helped a resident with yard cleaning up.
- Barney will email Bolter about removing fees for pavilions.
- Park structure repair
- Lawton already took the sign down at the train park to work on it.
- The front of the train was repaired.
- Mrs. Portis will have students repaint both pictures at the train park.
- The border of the volleyball court is damaged and needs to be replaced. Woster said he would look at it before Yutan Days.
- Davis was offered two railroad crossing signs to replace the worn one at the train park. The park board agreed to receive one sign and see if it will work. It is being donated.
- Davis stated he didn't like the look of the yellow boards at the train park. Worcester will look at them and see if they can be painted or stained to be more uniform with the rest of the pavilion.
- Barney presented pictures of signs for the pickle ball court with rules for the game and rules for use of the court. Barney will look for a custom sign for the court rules and send both to Lawton to purchase.
- Next meeting July 26, 2024 at 630 pm.
